Through this book I learned that Life is a series of lessons. By adopting this belief, I stopped labeling my experiences as ‘good‘ or ‘bad‘, but started to look beyond. I started viewing everyone as a teacher and looked back on my life and all of the people I’ve encountered. I thanked everyone that had helped me and mostly those who had hurt me; for they too were my teachers and taught me the greatest lessons. I felt relieved that the pain I’ve felt in the past wasn’t in vain, it actually served a purpose. By looking at everything as a teaching, I was able to let go of so much negativity; I felt liberated. I am a firm believer that everything that happens, happens for a reason; there is a hidden lesson behind every single situation. I welcome all the teachings that life will bring my way.
“The Journey Home” by Radhanath Swami is a great book to read for all of you out there (like me) who are doing a little soul-searching. My mentor Rima at the Jivamukti Yoga Studio was the one who recommended it. It’s about a young boy who embarks on remarkable journey to find a Guru, the Truth and God. Once I started reading it, I couldn’t put the book down. The writer was able to transport me to a whole other planet and taught me so much about India, God and life.
Thank you Radhanath Swami for sharing your journey with us all and for opening my eyes. Thank you for all your teachings, you make me want to become a better person.
